Winter Work

So, it’s been a busy semester for me. This fall has been a great time for me to explore my communication skills with my art and drawings. I’ve been working on some fun, graphic stuff while maintaining my acrylic skills. Here are some of my favorites. Happy 2015!

Nomad Showing

So, I just finished my first solo show at Nomad Pub called “From the Dark”. It was a great showing and I hope to do many, many more.

From The Dark

Well, it’s been a long summer and I’m glad it’s over. It’s been a tough one for sure. Anyways…. best………news……ever. I’ve got my solo show this week! Please, maintain composure people. I’ve been preparing for this for a year and I’m super stoked to show my work. It’s the first time I won’t be showing any photo realism. I will simply be relying on my artistic vision. It’s a very vulnerable and honest place to be. Anyways, can’t wait and hope to see some of you there.

Summer Gigs

So it’s been a while since I’ve posted, and I’m kind of embarrassed. Tis’ been too long to be acceptable. I had a live painting gig at the Skyway Theater in downtown Minneapolis. It went pretty well, but it was candle-lit, thus hard to see, and the DJ was so loud that my windpipe was vibrating. It was not a pleasant feeling. Eventually I stuck a cigarette in each ear to drown out the nuclear base…. yeah that’s the most use I’ll ever get out of a pack of smokes. Anyways, I do have a gig coming up on the 23rd of August at the same place as a live painter. It will be more art focused and less DJ crowd. I also get to donate a piece of art to the auction, with all proceeds going to the Humane Society. So awesome! In the meantime I’m working on a sweet photography gig for a major brand.

Till the next post………..

RAW Pourhouse Show

So I showed last night at The Pourhouse in downtown Minneapolis. It was for the RAW art showcase and it was amazing! I got to display my work and perform in front of a big crowd. I was nervous about performing as we didn’t get a sound-check due to the fact that production was really behind schedule. We struggled with stage sound in the first song and my mic cable fell off in the second, but the rest went great. I have to say that I was really nervous and didn’t work the stage as well as I’d like, but for my first “big show” it went great!

Monsters, Moths, and the RAW Panorama Showcase!

Ok, so it’s been a week of decompressing from school, but I’m back to being conscious and seeing straight. I finished with, I’m not gonna lie, a pretty badass, creepy, giant moth that blended into the wall for my design class…… it scared everyone……… yeah, pretty proud. Anyways, I am so excited to announce that I will be showing at the RAW Panorama Showcase at the Pourhouse on June 18th. No, you’re not dreaming…. it’s really happening. It’s going to be a night filled with music, creepy art, fashion, possibly booze, and warm weather. That’s like, almost as good as the Rapture. There is a $15 cover, but for all the awesomeness you get in return, it’s a steal. Please come and say hello and have some fun!

By the way, the season finale of River Monsters is on tomorrow, followed by the premiere of “Blood Lake”……. Suck on that for a minute.

Nonsense

Ok, so I’ve been trying not to go insane with this endless winter/rain/cold garbage weather. I’ve been keeping really busy with art school and delving into sculpture. I do have to say that I did not win the Bruegger’s art contest, but alas, it was an honor to be nominated. I had a lovely display at our school show and got positive reviews for my baby, Dragon Eel. I was incredibly nervous to show it for some reason, but nothing was damaged so…..success! I’ve had plenty of performances at school so I get to sing and paint. What more could I need? Sun. Warm weather. The ability to not skate while riding bike. This has made me go a little wacky….so much that I’ve taken a few selfies. I NEVER take seflies because I think they’re worthless. This one looked remarkably like Conan O’Brien, so I have to share it. Here’s to trying to not go insane in Minneapolis.

Bruegger’s Artist Challenge!!!

I’m so excited to announce that I am a finalist in the Bruegger’s Bagel $10,000 Artist Challenge! Below is the link to the Facebook page for the contest. I could win free bagels for a year, money, and a huge display for my art! I am so excited. Umm, bagels for a year? Yes please!

Jesus Jessie J!

Just discovered an incredible performance by Jessie J. at the Live Lounge. I can’t get over her control and vocal agility. It’s beautiful.
