My name is Ashley L. Wiermaa and I am a Minnesota artist who loves to travel the world. This is a mix of art, travel, sci fi, and a bit of humor.

Artist Statement 

As a kid, I have always been drawn to sharks, alligators, insects and anything that little girls should hate. Being obsessed with creatures from movies like Return of the Jedi, Jaws, and Jurassic Park, I took it upon myself to bring these creatures to life by creating costumes out of things that were immediately available, be-it plastic knives, soda cans, straws, or acrylic paint. As an adult, I use these same materials in making art on canvas. All of my work is based on a personal fear or a nightmare someone has told me about. What can I say; I like things that go bump in the night. Through my work, I want
people to feel the way I felt as a child. I want the viewer to feel the same juxtaposition of fascination and fear through these creatures I create.
